AID — It was an abbreviated game that took two weeks to complete.

In a game that began two weeks ago but was halted by rain and completed on Thursday, Dillon McFann pitched a four-hitter as the Symmes Valley Vikings beat the Green Bobcats 11-1 in five innings in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“McFann threw the ball pretty well and we hit the ball well. I was pleased with our defense again. We’ve played two straight games without an error,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.

The Vikings are now 12-1 overall and 8-1 in the SOC.

Symmes Valley jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

Four straight walks produced a run, Cameron Meadows had a two-run single and Trent Thompson hit into a fielder’s choice as a run scored.

Green got a run in the third when Andy Chavarria single, stole second and scored on a hit by Ben Vance.

Symmes Valley got the run back in the fourth. Laykin Gothard singled, Payton Hayes reached on an error and McFann hit a sacrifice fly.

The Vikings then ended the game early with six runs in the fifth inning.

Jacob Klaiber and Meadows singled, Thompson reached on a fielder’s choice and Tylor Carpenter was safe on an error as a run scored.

Chayden Renfroe and Gothard each singled in a run, Hayes singled home two runs and Tanner Mays had and RBI single to end the game.
