Village needs curbside recycling now

The people in the Rome/Proctorville area are big on recycling.

It is obvious by the overflowing recycle bins each week. What I don’t understand is why curbside recycling is not offered to this area. Curbside recycling has been part of my life since the late 1980s in every town I lived in until I moved here.

Not only was it offered, in some of the towns it was required, as it should be. One of the towns, Hewitt, Texas, started curbside recycling and was able to use the profit from the recycling to pay for all the processing equipment and began making a profit for the city.

I have a lot more recyclable items each week than I do trash.

I’ve lived here 20 years now and still waiting on curbside recycling. Our county leaders need to find a way to make this happen.

Get the recycle bins that make our towns look like dumps out of here and give us curbside recycling.
