Music filled the riverfront at the Center Street landing Sunday evening as the Friends of Ironton put on its first Memorial Music and Fireworks Festival getting the community ready for Memorial Day.

“In the past we’ve just had fireworks,” Jane Griffith of the Friends of Ironton, said. “Last year everyone talked about expanding it with more to do before the fireworks. This was the route we decided to go this year.”

This year marked the third for fireworks, but the first for the music and pre-fireworks activities.
