PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Cincinnati Reds left fielder Marlon Byrd was placed on the 15-day disabled list before Wednesday night’s game, a day after he fractured his right wrist when he was hit with a pitch.

Infielder Ivan De Jesus Jr. was called up from Triple-A Louisville and outfielder Donald Lutz was released.

Byrd was hit on the right hand by a pitch from Sean O’Sullivan leading off the sixth inning of a 5-4 loss Tuesday night. Byrd reacted with considerable pain but shook off the injury and went to first base. He was replaced in left field in the bottom of the seventh.
