Gladys White

Gladys Irene White, 93, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015, at her residence. The Carter County, Kentucky, native was born April 21, 1922, a daughter of the late James “Willie” and Mable Evens Arden. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde A. White, Sr.

Mrs. White was a graduate of Decatur High School, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde Allen Jr. and Sandra White; two grandsons, Brian Michael Hartman and Benjamin Brillhart; and many brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a son, Jim White, of Akron; and two daughters, Linda White, of Huntington, and Sandra Schreiber, of Copley.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Michael White officiating. Burial will follow in Rude Cemetery. Visitation is from noon-1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

James Nicely

James Sherman Nicely, 58, of Ironton, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, in South Point. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Burial will follow at Old Baptist Cemetery, Scottown.

James was born Aug. 2, 1956, in Chesapeake, a son of the late William and Virginia O’Dell Nicely. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Graham. James was retired as welder for McGinnis, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Dean Bowen Nicely; children, Sherry (Shawn) Webb, of Willow Wood, Robin Anderson, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, Ashley (Wes) McFann, of South Point, Melissa Nicely, Janet (James) McCoy and J.R. Nicely; grandchildren, Jordan McFann, Peyton McFann, Logan McFann, Cassandra Horn, Katelyn Anderson and Amanda Webb; great grandchildren, Cameron Webb, Madison Webb and Levi Horn; many other grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Bill Nicely and Darrell Nicely; and sisters, Debbie Nicely, Carolyn Nicely, Donna Lambert, Connie Nicely and Cassie Nicely.

James Miller

James Eugene Miller, 92, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland. Mr. Miller was born April 27, 1923, in Ironton, a son to the late Harold and Gladys (Colfer) Miller.

Mr. Miller was a graduate of Ironton High School. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Air Force. He was a retired chemical technician with Aristech and a member of Central Christian Church. Mr. Miller loved to watch the Cincinnati Reds and Marshall games. In his younger years he enjoyed boating, camping and water skiing, but most of all he loved God, family and his country.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by two sisters and brother-in-laws, Mary Ann and Clifford “Pete” Johnson and Joyce and Clyde “Spider” Justice; brother-in-law, Floyd Sheetz; and two aunts, Mary Colfer and Margaret Colfer.

He is survived by daughter, Debra (Steve) Miller, of Baltimore, Maryland; son, J.D. (Glecia) Miller, of Houston, Texas; sister, Rebecca Sheetz of San Diego, California; granddaughter, Shana Miller, of Houston; nieces and nephews, Lisa (Butch) Myers, Sherry (Ron) Martin, Steven Sheetz and Leslie Sheetz; nephew, Greg Justice, of Ironton, and his departed wife Sherry Waldo-Justice; and great-nieces and nephews, Nathan Myers, Rochelle Kazee, Joe Martin, Travis Martin and Jason Smith

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with pastor Jim Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Wilma Yeager

Wilma Ann Yeager, 76, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Cabell Health Care Center, Culloden, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband C.E. “Ed” Yeager. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at New Baptist Church, Huntington, by pastor Trent Eastman. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Hyacinth Rollins

Hyacinth V. Rollins, 97, of Ironton, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley in Ironton. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday at the Triedstone Baptist Church, 615 Depot Square, with the Rev. Richard Carter officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Mary Perry

Mary Ollie Whitt Perry, 63, of South Point, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center Huntington, West Virginia. Arrangements are pending at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point.

 

 

Connie Ferrell

Connie Raye Cain-Ferrell, 59, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, wife of Gordon Wesley Ferrell, died at home on Monday, June 1, 2015.
