Dorothy Orange

Dorothy “Dot” Irene Orange, 90, of Proctorville, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015, at home. She was born July 6, 1924, in Proctorville, daughter of the late Everett and Willa Galloway. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil W. Orange, and one brother, Pete Galloway. She was a Christian and was of the Baptist faith. She was hired at Owens-Illinois in 1946 and worked there until her retirement. She was also a member of Proctorville VFW Post 6878 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by Jeri (Dr. Gary) Ripley of Proctorville; one brother, John (Betty Jo) Galloway of Richmond, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Renee (Wren) Collier and their family Oren Collier, III and Oren Collier IV, India (Chip) Suiter and their children Mary Price Suiter, Charles Suiter, II, and Bridget Suiter, Sabrina Galloway and her children Taylor Beacham and Hannah Beacham; and John Edwin (Mandi) Galloway and their children James Galloway and Joseph Galloway; cousin, Cathy Case; sister-in-law Juanita Orange; and her beloved cat, Toby. A special thank you is extended to her special caregivers Lisa Bailey, Ruth Adkins, Janet Morris, Melinda Moore, Kathy Midkiff and Kara Adkins. Pallbearers will be Mike Casto, Rick James, David Adkins, Cal Jenkins, Dean Cooper and Albert Baker.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, with Pastor Jason Morris officiating. Entombment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, West Virginia. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Ruth Kennedy

Ruth (Einink) Kennedy, 96, of Ironton, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, June 5, 2015, in Queen Creek, Arizona. Ruth was born in Birnamwood, Wisconsin on April 22, 1919, a daughter of the late John Albert and Jeanna (Post) Einink. Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James H. Kennedy, who passed away on Oct. 20, 2009. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Berg and Gertrude Yingling.

Mrs. Kennedy is survived by five children, Donald Kennedy of Mason, Robert (Mary Lee) Kennedy of Queen Creek, Arizona, Cindy (Jim) Hamrick of Knoxville, Tennessee, John (Margie) Kennedy of Singapore and Martha (Eric) Alfrey of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers, Gerry (Shirley) Einink of Chicago, Illinois and Paul (Verna) Einink of Anderson, Indiana; one sister, Marjorie Renner of South Bend, Indiana; and two brothers-in-law, Tom Berg of Hammond, Indiana and Chuck Yingling of Des Moines, Iowa. She is survived by 10 grandchildren, Caroline Kennedy, Mary Ann (Matt) Perry, Sara (Ryan) Crance, Emily (Justin) Ruettinger, Jenny Hamrick, Meredith and Andrew Kennedy, HannahBeth, Abby and Ethan Alfrey. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, all residing in Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and a long-time special friend, Janet Stone.

Ruth was a 1938 graduate of Denver Christian School in Denver, Colorado. She spent many years in the Cedar Lake, Indiana, area and was a resident of Ironton for the past 48 years. Ruth and her husband James were owners of Kennedy Insurance Agency and Kennedy Realty. They were active members of First Baptist Church of Ironton where they were a part of the Love and Fellowship Class. She was active in many women’s Bible studies and missionary circles.

Visitation will be Friday from 6–8 p.m. at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Ironton with Eric Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.

Donations may be made to First Baptist Church Youth Ministry and Samaritan’s Purse of Boone, North Carolina.

David Bonzo

David Keith Bonzo, 65, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Monday, June 8, 2015, at his residence. The Portsmouth native was born May 15, 1950, a son of Albert and Rosella Riddlebarger Bonzo, of Franklin Furnace. He is also survived by his wife, Aida Gonzalez Bonzo, whom he married Aug. 1, 1987.

Keith was a graduate of Green Township High School with the class of 1968 and was in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a former locomotive operator for AK Steel, retiring in 1998 after 30 years of service and attended the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Powellsville. He loved farming and was one of the largest tobacco producers in southern Ohio.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joshua Bonzo.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by a son, Keith Bonzo; three daughters and five grandchildren, Kayla Bonzo, Jessica (Ron) Miller and her children, Avery Miller and Creed Miller, Melissa Bonzo Blagg and her children Austin Blagg, Ryleigh Blagg and Carsen Blagg; a stepdaughter, Kendra Staten; a brother, Randy Bonzo; and a sister, Shawna Bowen.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Carl Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Powellsville. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home and donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 500 West Wilson Bridge Road #105, Worthington, OH 43085.
