Fish Derby deemed success

The June 6 Cave Run Kids Fish Derby was a big success again this year.

There were 675 kids who registered, making it the second largest turnout in the event’s history. I would like to thank everyone who devoted countless hours to the program. The reward for your hard work was evident on the smiling faces of the children who attended.

In addition to the wonderful fishing, 234 kids participated in the casting contest with the top three competitors in three different age groups walking away with trophies. Also, members of the Kentucky Houndsmen and North Eastern Kentucky Fish and Game Association filleted the young fishers’ bounties and provided free batter for frying their fillets.
