PHOENIX (AP) — A suspended Arizona State football recruit was sentenced Monday to two years of probation for his misdemeanor plea in a domestic violence case.

Last month, 21-year-old Davon Durant pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct in an agreement that called for the dismissal of other charges, including an aggravated assault charge.

Police say Durant’s girlfriend initially told police she was hit and choked during a March 7 argument.

Police also say the girlfriend had abrasions and neck bruises consistent with being grabbed but that she later said the incident was only a verbal altercation.

Durant also has said that.

ASU suspended Durant indefinitely after his arrest.

The linebacker is a junior-college transfer.
