PROCTORVILLE — A 19-year-old Proctorville man faces charges of felonious assault, theft and eluding a police officer following a high-speed chase into West Virginia.

At 3:30 a.m. Monday Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies were called to 14460 State Route 7 in Rome Township on a possible assault.

Deputies found David Fuller, 61, on the ground bleeding.

“According to Fuller, his son, Ryan Fuller, had assaulted him with a large metal yard anchor and had a knife, but he was not stabbed, “ according to a sheriff’s release.

Ryan Fuller then allegedly stole his father’s 2013 Dodge Avenger. An arrest warrant was issued for the younger Fuller for felonious assault. At the same time Lawrence County law enforcement spoke with Gallia County Sheriff’s Office investigators who were investigating a break-in at the Silver Star Gas Station on State Route 7 in Crown City. Ryan Fuller was a suspect in that incident.

At approximately 7 p.m. on Monday Lawrence deputies saw Ryan Fuller allegedly in the stolen car. They attempted a traffic stop, but Fuller crossed into Huntington, West Virginia, via the 31st Street Bridge, allegedly at a high-rate of speed.

Law enforcement continued the high-speed chase, assisted by West Virginia State Police and Huntington Police Department, according to the release.

Stop sticks were used to stop the vehicle and Fuller was arrested in the 1700 block of Charleston Avenue.

“A search of the stolen vehicle by investigators revealed a large bank bag with cash money stolen from the Silver Star gas station in Crown City and a tool believed to have been used in the break-in,” according to the release.

Ryan Fuller is currently in the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, West Virginia, following treatment for an arm injury. He will face charges of fleeing and eluding in West Virginia before extradition to Ohio County to face assault, theft and eluding charges.

David Fuller remains in intensive care at an area hospital.
