Youth football
camp set July 2
The first annual one-day youth football camp for players ages 6-14 will be held from 8:30-to-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, at the soccer field across from Liebert on South Ninth Street in Ironton.
Camp fee is $25. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. For preregistration, contact coach Lou Mains at (740) 646-2163. Forms are available at Ironton Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation or St. Joseph High School.
Proceeds go to the St. Joseph athletic department.
Areas of emphasis with individual instruction include:
Linebackers–Heath Brownstead and Mark Lewis; defensive line–Dave Coburn; defensive backs–Mark Lutz; quarterbacks–Drew Mains; running backs–Craig Harvey; receivers–Andrew Barker; offensive line–Lou Mains.
Rain date is July 3.
St. Joseph athletic
physicals July 23
St. Joseph High School and Junior High School athletic physical will be held Thursday, July 23, at the Bellefonte Hospital’s Vitality Center.
Physicals for grades 7-9 will be from 8:30-to-10 a.m. followed by grades 10-12 from 10-a.m. to noon.
Physical forms are available in the high school principal’s office. Necessary items on the form must be filled out and signed by parents prior to the administration of the physical.
ICC to sponsor
2-man tournament
The Ironton Country Club will host a two-man best ball golf tournament on Friday, July 3.
Tournament begins at 1 p.m. Cost is $50 for non-members and $25 for members.
Price includes green tees, cart and tournament entry. Lunch specials will be available.

Prep VB officiating
class to be offered
An Ohio High School Athletic Association sanctioned prep volleyball officiating class will be offered beginning at 5 p.m. Monday, July 20, in Ironton.
Anyone interested in becoming a volleyball official should go on the OHSAA website and register for the class and pay the registration fee.

K of C 1487 hosting
4-man scramble
The Knights of Columbus Council 1487 of Ashland, Ky., and Holy Family School will conduct a four-man golf scramble Saturday, July 27, at Austin Hills Golf Course.
Entry fee is $60 per player or $200 for a team of four. A car will be given away in the hold-in-one contest. Refreshments will be provided. Tournament begins at 9 a.m.

Jackson Freedom
5K Run set July 4
The 19th annual Jackson County Freedom Fest 5K Run And Walk will be held on Saturday, July 4, and will be run through the business district and western residential section of Jackson.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Manpower Park on East Main Street, across from the Jackson Square Shopping Center and Krogers, 530 E. Main Street.
Entry fee is $20 for pre-registration at TriStateRacer.com and $25 the day of the race. Proceeds will go toward the sponsoring of community events by the Jackson Area Chamber Of Commerce.
All participating runners will receive newly-designed dry-weave Sports Festival T-shirts. The race will be timed by TriStateRacer.com and the course used has been certified.
Plaques will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers and medals will be given to the top three finishers in all age divisions, outside of those winning plaques, in both the male and female categories.
There will also be a one-mile walk starting simultaneously with the 5K Run. Those wishing to participate in the walk, which has no registration fee, may purchase a T-shirt for $10.

NSA girls’ softball tourney July 18-19
An NSA girls’ fastpitch softball tournament will be held July 18-19 in Milton, W.Va.
There is a five-game format and winning teams qualify for the NSA World Series. Divisions are 8u, 10u, 12u, 14u, 16u and 16u-18u.
Entry fee is $400. Pool play will be the format after seeding.
Winning teams get team trophy plus individual medals while runners-up get team trophy.
Concessions and T-shirt will be available.

The 4th annual Roosters’ River Cities Summer Slamfest co-ed softball will be held June 28 at St. Clouds in Huntington, W.Va.
Teams must have at least four girls on the field at all times.
Entry fee is $150 or $140 if paid by June 24 at bracket party at Roosters.
Three home runs allowed and teams will hit their own 52 300 or less softballs.

Gallia plans girls’ basketball camp
The first annual Gallipolis Blue Angels’ basketball exposure camp will be held Monday, July 20, at Gallia Academy High School.
The came is open to female athletes entering grades 10-12 and any unsigned seniors.
Sign-in begins at 9 a.m. Fee is $150 per camper. Forms must be received by July 6.
The camp is designed to showcase players against top competition while being viewed by scouting services and college coaches.

Kiwanis Juniors plan golf tourney
The Gallipolis Kiwanis Juniors will conduct a youth golf tournament at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, at Cliffside Golf Club, 100 Cliffside Drive, Gallipolis.
Entry fee is $30 for the girls’ open and the 16-18 and 13-15 age divisions who play 18 holes, and $20 for the 11-12 and 10-and-under age divisions who play nine holes.
The girls’ open is for ages 18-and-under.
Pro shop certificates will be awarded to first, second and third places. Ages 16-18 and 13-15 are $100, $75 and $50 while ages 11-12 are “$60, $40 and $30.
