A makeup date has been set for the rained out game between the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers.

The game originally scheduled for June 18 will be played at 7:10 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

Anyone with tickets for the June 18 game may use those for the rescheduled contest.

Dad Said What?

The rule has always been that you don’t lose your starting job due to an injury, unless you’re Wally Pipp and your replacement is Lou Gehrig.

So it didn’t seem so bad when Joe Barrett said his son J.T. Barrett should give way to Braxton Miller as the Ohio State Buckeyes’ starting quarterback.

Miller was injured before last season and Barrett had a Big Ten record-setting year before an injury in the final game of the regular season gave the job to Cardale Jones.

Miller was the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year as a junior, so everyone has been wondering whom coach Urban Meyer will start at quarterback this season.

But don’t think Daddy Barrett is just being diplomatic. J.T. Barrett got the job because of an injury, but so did Jones. So by the right of succession, Barrett should be the backup to Miller.

As if Meyer didn’t already have enough to think about.

Cleaning Up the FIFA

There is a rumor that the FIFA — the world soccer governing body — plans to fix its recent scandal.

The president of the FIFA Sepp Blatter, well, let’s just say he mismanaged the money and there are plans for a new election. In order to make the situation better, they plan to elect Don King as the new president.

When your sport is more corrupt than boxing, you’ve got big problems.

Correction

Last time I said former Coal Grove Lady Hornets’ basketball player Angie Smith married Bob Horner of the Atlanta Braves.

Smith actually married Ken Oberkfell, a teammate of Atlanta Braves’ infielder Bob Horner.

Also, there’s a change in numbers. A study regarding people having sex change operations showed that 75 percent attempt suicide, not 50 percent.

Evidently, changing your sex isn’t the problem. In fact, it only creates more of them.
