Ironton’s football fitness starts July 23

Any boys planning to play football at Ironton High School are to meet at 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, in the stadium bleachers for the start of physical fitness.

 

Ironton youth grid camp set July 25

The first annual Ironton High School “Fighting Tiger” football camp will be Saturday, July 25, on Bob Lutz Field at Tanks Memorial Stadium.

The came is for youths entering grades 3-through-8 for the fall of this school year. The camp will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Entry fee is $25 and each camper will get a T-shirt. Players will have the opportunity to work with members of the high school coaching staff and Fighting Tiger players. There will also be guest speakers.

Interested persons may pre-regisgter by contacting Brian Bowling at (740) 550-6877. Pre-registering guarantees the proper T-shirt size.

Registration the day of the camp begins at 9 a.m. in Tiger Alley.

Checks should be made payable to the Tiger Clan Athletic Boosters.

 

IRD youth football sets signups, camp

The Ironton Youth Football League registrations will be held at the Ironton Little League Fields.

Dates and times are: 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays, July 11 and 25, and 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, July 27.

The second annual B.J. Hannon Memorial Youth Football Camp will be Monday through Friday, July 27-31.

Camp fee is $10 per child and may be paid during registrations. The camp is open to all local players and each camper receives a T-shirt and will compete in a punt, pass, kick and fastest 40-yard time competition on Friday.

There will be first and second place awards in each division: 1-2 grades, 3-4 grades, and 5-6 grades.

St. Joseph athletic

physicals July 23

St. Joseph High School and Junior High School athletic physical will be Thursday, July 23, at the Bellefonte Hospital’s Vitality Center.

Physicals for grades 7-9 will be from 8:30-10 a.m. followed by grades 10-12 from 10 a.m.- noon.

Physical forms are available in the high school principal’s office. Necessary items on the form must be filled out and signed by parents prior to the administration of the physical.

 

St. Joseph soccer meeting July 7

All boys planning to play soccer at St. Joseph High School are asked to meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at the Ironton arean youth soccer fields.

Open field starts at 7 p.m. on July 7 at the fields.

 

Ironton area soccer registrations set

The Ironton Area Youth Soccer Association will conduct registrations for the 2015 fall season at the Ironton City Center, 301 South Third St., from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays, July 11 and 18.

The league is for youths ages 4 to 12 with birthdays between Aug. 1, 2003, to July 31, 2011. Fee is $20 per youth and $15 for each additional sibling. There will be a $5 late fee assessed per player after July 18.

Youths must be registered by a parent or legal guardian.

Teams will be for under age 6 (co-ed), under 8 (co-ed), and under age 10 and under 12 for boys and girls.

 

Prep VB officiating

class to be offered

An Ohio High School Athletic Association sanctioned prep volleyball officiating class will be offered beginning at 5 p.m. Monday, July 20, in Ironton.

Anyone interested in becoming a volleyball official should go on the OHSAA website and register for the class and pay the registration fee.

2-man tournament

The Ironton Country Club will host a two-man best ball golf tournament on Friday.

Tournament begins at 1 p.m. Cost is $50 for non-members and $25 for members.

Price includes green tees, cart and tournament entry. Lunch specials will be available.

NSA girls’ softball tourney July 18-19

An NSA girls’ fastpitch softball tournament will be July 18-19 in Milton, W.Va.

There is a five-game format and winning teams qualify for the NSA World Series. Divisions are 8u, 10u, 12u, 14u, 16u and 16u-18u.

Entry fee is $400. Pool play will be the format after seeding.

Winning teams get team trophy plus individual medals while runners-up get team trophy.

Concessions and T-shirt will be available.

Gallia plans girls’ basketball camp

The first annual Gallipolis Blue Angels’ basketball exposure camp will be Monday, July 20, at Gallia Academy High School.

The came is open to female athletes entering grades 10-12 and any unsigned seniors.

Sign-in begins at 9 a.m. Fee is $150 per camper. Forms must be received by July 6.

The camp is designed to showcase players against top competition while being viewed by scouting services and college coaches.

Kiwanis Juniors plan golf tourney

The Gallipolis Kiwanis Juniors will conduct a youth golf tournament at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, at Cliffside Golf Club, 100 Cliffside Drive, Gallipolis.

Entry fee is $30 for the girls’ open and the 16-18 and 13-15 age divisions who play 18 holes, and $20 for the 11-12 and 10-and-under age divisions who play nine holes.

The girls’ open is for ages 18-and-under.

Pro shop certificates will be awarded to first, second and third places. Ages 16-18 and 13-15 are $100, $75 and $50 while ages 11-12 are $60, $40 and $30.
