The Ironton Senior Center named its senior of the year in May, and Doris Robert of Ironton received the honor.

“May 19 I was chosen as senior of the year. I was really surprised,” Roberts said. “I didn’t think I was going to be chosen.”

Roberts said she really enjoys the senior center and the camaraderie and activities it has to offer senior citizens such as games, cards, bingo and once a month library programs and Price is Right.

“I was really impressed because I didn’t realize I was going to be chosen. I don’t think I deserved it in any way, but I was chosen and I’m thankful for that,” she said. “I really enjoy the center here and I think other seniors would be interested in coming down to take advantage of our center.”
