Linda Meeks

Linda M. Meeks, 72, of Ironton, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, at a local health care facility. The Ironton native was born Nov. 11, 1942, a daughter of the late Clifford Derifield and Pauline Williams Shope. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Meeks, whom she married Nov. 11, 2008.

Mrs. Meeks was a 1960 graduate of Ironton High School and received her associate degree in nursing from Rio Grande University. Linda was a former RN at the River Valley Health Systems and retired in 2007 after 25 years at SOMC. She loved line dancing, crocheting, shopping and traveling. She was a member of the Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Andrew Allen; a sister, Lois Hopper; a grandson, Joseph Allen Nixon.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, James Andrew (Abby) Allen, of Dayton, John Edward (Debi) Allen, of Ironton and Lonnie Glenn (Wendy) Nixon, of Supply, North Carolina; a sister, Brenda Derifield Hosey, of Pedro; a brother, Michael (Carol) Derifield, of Valdez, Alaska; a stepson, David Meeks of Kitts Hill; a stepdaughter, Susan (Kyle) Clement, of Kitts Hill; 13 grandchildren, Leslie Schleiger, Anna Schleiger, Jacob Schleiger, Kayla (Jeremy) Moore, Ryan Andrew Allen, John Aaron (Madison) Allen, Briley Bond, Abbie Nixon, Andrew Nixon, Audrie Marie Nixon, Joseph Nixon, Samantha Meeks and Janie Meeks; and 10 great-grandchildren, Miah Allen, Roman Moore, Rynlee Moore, Raegan Moore, Aaniyah Young, Jalen Mullins, Amari Walden, Alana Walden, Kaden Walden, and Kevanna Walden.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Friday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Stanley Wetzel

Stanley R. Wetzel, 67, of Friendship, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015. The Ironton native was born June 14, 1948, a son of the late John Marshall Wetzel and Ethel Grimm Wetzel. Stanley attended Junction City High School and served in the United States Army. Mr. Wetzel was of the Baptist faith and worked as a guard at the Lucasville prison for several years. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Gladys Irene Robbins Wetzel.

Stanley loved playing golf and bingo, and especially looked forward to naps. Most off all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Doris Wetzel Click; and brother, Charles Wolffe.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Nora Street, of Marion; daughter, Crystal (Steve) Richardson, of Shelbyville, Indiana; daughter, Jessica Wetzel, of West Portsmouth; sister, Helen Kyle, of West Portsmouth; sister, Martha Wilson, of Hanging Rock; sister, Laura Singleton, of Anaheim, California; brother, James (Dorreta) Wetzel, of Ironton; brother, George Wetzel, of Vero Beach, Florida; brother, Richard (Carol) Wetzel, of Huntington, West Virginia; brother, John (Christine) Wetzel, of Columbus; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. James Benner officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Nancy Dalton

Nancy JoAnn Dalton, 46, of Columbus, formerly of Huntington, West Virginia, died Monday, July 20, 2015, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
