Harmon reaches milestone

Over the decades, the economy has waxed and waned. In the waxing years, businesses big and small thrived as consumer confidence soared.

In the waning years, that consumer confidence faded and some businesses lost their footing and closed.

Probably the most impacted of those businesses were the small, family owned stores that line main streets across the country including right here in the Tri-State.

Some have stood the test of time and proven that a quality product provided with good customer service is the key to staying power.

In Ironton, one such business has reached a milestone anniversary this month.

Harmon Motor Sales will ring in its 50th anniversary with a special celebration on Saturday.

The business started with Chris Harmon in 1949, and was passed along to his nephew, Frank in 1980. Frank’s son and daughter also work there.

Harmon Motor Sales has been a family affair since the beginning and they have managed to keep it that way through five decades worth of economic change.

The longevity of Harmon, as well as other family-owned shops in Ironton, also shows that the community knows the importance and value of shopping local.

Even if you’re not in the market for an ATV or motorcycle, stop by on Saturday and congratulate the Harmons on their milestone.
