Louise Lavender

Louise (Bruce) Sark Lavender, 82, of Deering, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at a local nursing home. Mrs. Lavender was born Feb. 8, 1933, in Deering, a daughter to the late James M. and Effie (Langdon) Bruce. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Delbert Sark, Jr. and second husband, the Rev. Walter Lavender.

Mrs. Lavender was a 1951 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and attended Ashland School of Commerce. She was a former employee of Citizen National Bank, Lawrence Federal Savings and Loan and the Ironton Tribune. Louise was a lifetime member of Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was saved Jan. 20, 1946, and baptized in the creek on Wildwood Drive (Possum Hollow) Easter Sunday, 1948.

She was also preceded in death by brother, James M. Bruce; and sister, Mary Ann Jordan.

She is survived by daughter, Mary Lee (Tim) Robinson of Deering; son, Stephen Bruce (Gina) Sark, of Louisville, Kentucky; three stepchildren, Bruce Keith (Karen) Lavender, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Walter Gale (Carol) Lavender, of Florida and Mary Diane (Steve) Corn, of South Point; two grandchildren, Brianna Faith Robinson, of Deering and Taylor Alexandra Sark, of Louisville, Kentucky; six stepgrandchildren, Kimberly (Ray) Richardson, of Florida, Beth (Brad) Wiseman, of Indiana, Melissa Lavender, of Chillicothe, Sara (David) Moore, of Grayson, Kentucky, Ryan Corn, of Florida and Ashley Malone, of South Point; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Hannah Diane Corn, Sarah Olivia Corn and Nicholas Mederios; and sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and John Hankins, of Sebring, Florida.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 5121 State Route 243, Ironton, with the Rev. Todd Warner, the Rev. Johnny Riley and the Rev. John Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in Ice Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home. Joyce Fitzpatrick

Joyce Ann Fitzpatrick, 80, of Venice, Florida, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015. The Ironton native was born Sept. 29, 1934, a daughter of the late Oscar Richey Ferrel and Elizabeth Hunt Ferrel. She is survived by her husband, George Marion Fitzpatrick, whom she married July 2, 1955.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a 1952 graduate of Ironton High School. She had a 20-year career with General Telephone and was the former secretary to the treasurer for the GTE of Ohio in Marion. She was born and raised in Ironton, where she was a member of the Elm Street Church of the Nazarene and has lived in Florida since 1992.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Riley Ferrel; and a special aunt, Eunice Hunt Elam.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Thomas Richey Fitzpatrick and his wife, Laurie, of Christianna, Tennessee, and Mark Alan Fitzpatrick and his fiancée, Cynthia Wall, of Marion; two grandchildren, Tyler Fitzpatrick and his wife, Stephanie, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Emily Fitzpatrick, of Hollywood, California.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Paul Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Lawrence Schilling

Lawrence Edward Schilling, 94, of Ironton, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at his residence. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Cemetery with pastor Brett McGraw officiating. Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

 

Robert Lee, Jr.

Robert Alan Lee, Jr., 68, of Proctorville, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

 

 

Helen Leach

Helen Ruth Compton Leach, 71, of Ironton, died Friday, July 29, 2015, at home. Funeral services will be Saturday at Church of the King, Ironton, with pastor Butch Deer officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens, Russell, Kentucky. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Church of the King. Jennie Jiles

Jennie Mae Jiles, 71, of South Webster, loving wife of the Rev. Kenneth Jiles, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at her home with her family at her side.

The Superior native was born Nov. 6, 1943, a daughter of the late Ralph and the late Elizabeth Russell Aldridge. She was a graduate of Black Fork High School and obtained her nursing degree from the University of Rio Grande. She was retired with over 40 years of service to the Holzer Hopital in Jackson. She also worked many years for the River Valley Health System, the former Bryant’s Nursing Home, and the Jo Lin Nursing Home. She was married on March 26, 1965, to the Rev. Kenneth Jiles. She had a beautiful voice and loved singing for the Lord. She sang with the Jiles family and the Aldridge family at many of the Tri-State churches. Praising God and her family were her passion. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend to all that knew her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and Buddy Aldridge; and three sisters Gearleen Howell, Gail Johnson and Patricia Aldridge.

In addition to her husband at home she is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Penrod) Jiles and his wife Tammie and Rick and Heather Jiles; four sisters, Rita Howell, Delilah and John Willoughby, Pamela and Fanley Robinson and Debbie West; two brothers, Timothy and Tonya Aldridge and David and Patty Aldridge; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special friends Willard and Roena Blankenship, and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Mt Olive Baptist Church, Olive Furnace, with pastors, the Rev. Willard Blankenship and the Rev. Timothy Aldridge officiating along with special singing. Burial will follow in the Aldridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael and Shawn Aldridge, Jeff and Mike Jiles, Mark Alief, and James Brown. Friends may call from noon until time of services at the church.

Her husband is in charge of arrangements with the assistance of Brown Funeral Chapel in Ironton.

 

 

Kevin Myers

Kevin Lee Myers, 56, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. He is survived by his wife, Julie Myers. A memorial service will be noon Friday at Seventh Avenue Baptist Church, Huntington. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.
