Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the weekend break-in of an Ironton bank.

According to Ironton Police Detective Joe Ross, an anonymous phone call led to the arrest of Richard Fooce, 22, 802 S. Sixth St., Ironton.

“I got an anonymous tip,” Ross said. “Someone called me and told me who they thought these two boys were.”

Fooce, along with another man, identified as Austin Sexton, 20, also of Ironton, allegedly broke into WesBanco on South Fifth and Vernon streets around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Sexton has a warrant out for his arrest, said Ross.

The break-in set off the bank’s alarm and when police arrived, they found the back door glass had been broken. Security footage showed two men, who did not cover their faces.

“They had ransacked the bank,” Ross said. “We don’t think at this time they got any money.”

Fooce was arraigned Monday in Ironton Municipal Court and bond was set at $25,000. Attorney Gene Meadows was assigned to the case and a preliminary hearing was set for Thursday.

“I really appreciate all the calls and tips through social media,” Ross said. “That’s how we solved this.”
