Construction on Third Street will continue at the old Honeywell site, but it is scheduled to conclude by the end of the year.

“Honeywell is remediating the site under a plan approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and under the supervision of federal and state environmental agencies,” Victoria Streitfield, director of communications at Honeywell, said. “Last year we cleaned up eight acres along the river and this year we are scheduled to finish the remainder of 16 acres along Third Street.”

Streitfield also said when finished, the site will be available for new businesses.

“We continue to work with the local economic development corporation to identify possible redevelopment opportunities,” she said.
