St. Joe sets OHSAA meeting for Aug. 20

St. Joseph High School will conduct its annual Ohio High School Athletic Association parents’ meeting for student/athletes attending the school at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, in the St. Joseph Church undercroft.

The OHSAA requires schools to hold meetings to provide information on issues effecting student/athletes.

SOC sets volleyball preview for Aug. 22

The Southern Ohio Conference volleyball preview will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at Waverly High School.

The preview begins at 10 a.m. Here is the schedule:

New Boston vs. Waverly; Symmes Valley vs. Wheelersburg; Portsmouth Clay vs. Oak Hill; Ports. Notrte Dame vs. South Webster; Portsmouth West vs. Sciotoville East; Portsmouth Clay vs. Oak Hill; Green vs. Minford; Beaver Eastern vs. Northwest; Western vs. Lucasville Valley.

Admission is $5.

 

Local NWTF plans annual banquet

The South Hills Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold its 21st annual Hunting Heritage Super Fund banquet Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Collins Career Center.

Doors open at 4 p.m. to begin the social and dinner portion of the evening. The program will begin at 6:30.

Patriots plan fall

The Huntington Patriots yearly fall developmental league and summer tryouts for ages 10u-17u will be held Aug. 25 to Oct. 3.

Brandon Phillips bowling bash set

CINCINNATI — The Brandon Phillips’ Bowling Bash benefit event will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Super Bowl in Erlanger, Ky.

Phillips and teammates will be on hand to raise money for the Reds’ Community Fund. Food will be available.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m. for VIP check-in and reception. Bowling begins at 5:30 for participants.

Levels are: $150 individual; $400 VIP bowler; $750 full lane group of five; $2,000 VIP full lane group of five; $75 spectator.

Registrants get Reds’ gift bag, group photo with Phillips, T-shirt, custom bowling pin, Phillips’ bobblehead and an autographed baseball by a Reds’ player plus two and one-half hours of bowling.
