An Ashland area man whose ad agency gained international acclaim is the subject of a book co-authored by an Ohio University Southern professor.

Chronicling the life of David E. Carter, “You Can Get There from Here” co-authored by Carter and Don Moore, professor of electronic media at OUS, tells the story of Carter’s rise to success as the founder of the Telly Awards and an Emmy Award winner for his work on the “Tonight Show.”

When people live in Appalachia, they think they can’t be successful because of where they are from, said Moore. The story of Carter is a way to show that assumption is false.

A book signing for Moore and Carter’s book is schedule for today at 1:30 p.m. in the Mains Rotunda at OUS.

Both Moore and Carter will be at the event and Moore will present a short lecture on the book.

The money raised through the book sales will go directly to the OUS Electronic Media Department.

“It will go into the fund to help with equipment,” said Moore.
