Ironton girls top Lady Hornets in volleyball match

In this case, teamwork made the team work.
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers used teamwork to beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets for a straight sets Ohio Valley Conference volleyball win on Thursday, 25-15, 25-13 and 25-9.
“The team worked well tonight, but we still have a lot to improve on,” said Ironton coach Beth Campbell.
Lexi Wise had 14 points and 5 aces, D’Laynie Keith 10 points and 4 aces and Jordan Hannan added 9 points and 4 aces to lead the Lady Tigers.
Mckenzie Cremeens added 5 points, Alyssa Lewis, Kaylin Easterling and Alyssia Rowe added 3 points and Zakia Lee 2 points.
Emily Compliment and Brianna Stumbo had 3 points each and Kaylee Beals 2 for the Lady Hornets.
Wise also had 14 kills, Keith 11 and Lee 6. Hannan piled up 28 assists.
Lee added 4 blocks while Lewis and Allison Dickess combined for 10 digs defensively.
Ironton visits Jackson at 5:30 p.m. Monday and hosts Portsmouth at 5:30 on Tuesday in a league game. Russell visits at 6 p.m. next Thursday.
OVC Results
Rock Hill beat South Point in five sets, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22, 18-25 and 15-10.
In a non-league match, Minford topped the Fairland Lady Dragons in five sets, 25-17, 9-25, 8-25, 25-12 and 15-8.
