COAL GROVE — A new fiscal officer will soon take over for the Village of Coal Grove, following two resignations.

Back at the end of March, former Coal Grove clerk and treasurer Diana Wise resigned from her position, at which point Coal Grove Mayor Larry McDaniel said village council decided not to continue with having a clerk/treasurer, an elected position. Council opted for an appointed fiscal officer.

“Council decided to make it an appointed job so they can pick who they want,” McDaniel said.

Shane Gossett was appointed the new fiscal officer in the middle of April, although he too resigned on Aug. 14 due to another job offer, McDaniel said.

McDaniel added that the village has received five applications and will begin the interviewing process this afternoon.
