PROCTROVILLE — If it’s a tough game, you can expect the St. Joseph Female Flyers to be part of it.

The Female Flyers remained unbeaten as they won yet another tough soccer game by getting past the Fairland Lady Dragons 4-3 on Thursday.

“We faced another difficult test tonight. Fairland is a very solid team. They’ve got some really athletic players and they’re well coached,” said Female Flyers’ coach Kyle Weatherholt.

St. Joseph took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Lynsey Booker with an assist by Emma Saxby.

Ophelia Weatherholt scored on a penalty kick to make it 2-0, but Fairland scored twice before the half to tie the game.

In the 56th minutes, Kaylee Sheridan got on the end of a corner kick and headed it into the right corner and the Female Flyers led 3-2.

Fairland got a penalty kick five minutes later to tie the game again, but in the 67th minute Ophelia Weatherholt got past several defenders and into the box.

Ashlee Blankenship then made a great run to the back post to get in perfect position for the cross and put it into the net for the winning goal.

“Kaylee Sheridan played excellent in the midfield and started to dictate the run of play a little more,” said coach Weatherholt. “Ashlee has worked hard all season and she deserved the game winner tonight.”

St. Joseph visits Athens at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
