Lucasville Valley (1-0) at Coal Grove (0-1): The Valley Indians reached the Division VI state semifinals last year. Returning are quarterback Bryan Rolfe, receiver and running back Bryce Romanello, running back Blake Howard, WR Derek Burk to key a wide-open offense. Romanello and Wolford lead the defense from their linebacker spots.

Alexander (1-0) at Chesapeake (1-0): Alexander has 22 seniors led by LB and RB Mason Chapman. Taylor Kimbrough takes over at QB and throws to Lukas Thompson. The OL has Nick Lorubbio (6-0, 265) and J.D. Pollard (6-2, 280) at tackle, Cory Chapman (6-1, 220) and Shea Grigsby (6-2, 225) at the guards and Turner Andrews (6-0, 260) at center.

Northwest (1-0) at Rock Hill (0-1): The Mohawks were 5-5 last season but lost some key players. Top returnees are QB Austin Jenkins (5-6, 140) and RB Michael Lajoye (5-7, 150). The OL has some size led byJacob Lute (6-0, 270) and Marcus Mitchell (5-10, 280). PK Dylan Amburgey has a strong leg.

Fairland (0-1) at Wheelersburg (1-0): The Pirates are led by running back Jordan Howard, slot back Chasen Burk, quarterback Kyle Davis, OL Sam Hall and Brady Newsome.

Rock Creek Academy at South Point (0-1): Rock Creek is in its first season of varsity of football. Lions’ coach Roy McMillan — a graduate of Louisville Southern who played at Western Kentucky — doesn’t have any false illusions.

“Athletically, I’ll have five or six guys who can play, but the rest have never played.”

Kickoffs are schedule for 7 p.m. except for South Point at 2 p.m. Saturday.
