Several cases heard in common pleas

Probation violations were among the cases heard in the courtroom of common pleas judge Charles Cooper on Wednesday.

William P. Elliot, 25, of 59 Roberta Lane, Greenup, Kentucky, appeared on probation violations. Cooper sentenced him to an extended one-year probation and a $750 fine. He must also report for weekly drug testing. If he fails to report, 460 days have been reserved in jail.

Jack Cremeans, 31, of 2615 S. Fifth St., Ironton, appeared on probation violations. Cooper sentenced him to STAR Community Justice Center.

William E. Hall, Jr., 33, of 1824 Shopes Creek, Ashland, Kentucky, did not show up to court. Cooper issued a bench warrant for Hall.

Shella M. Pennington, 32, of 202 Kentucky 2 Ratliff Road, South Shore, Kentucky, appeared on a second-degree count of felonious assault, to which she changed her plea to guilty. Cooper sentenced her to four years in prison.

James N. Helton, 56, of 1512 S. 11th St., Ironton, appeared on counts of theft of drugs to which he pleaded guilty. Cooper sentenced him to six months in prison.

Richard Fooce, 23, of Fout’s Group Home, Ironton, appeared on fifth-degree counts of trespass with the purpose of theft and breaking and entering. Cooper set bond at $25,000 cash or surety. Another pre-trial was set for Sept. 9.

Sean F. James, 23, of 412 Mill St., Ironton, appeared for sentencing on a fifth-degree count of breaking and entering. Cooper sentenced him to four years community controlled sanctions and STAR Community Justice Center.
