WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Local School District is helping one of its alumni tonight before the home football game against Chesapeake.

Former students and other members of the Symmes Valley community are hosting Rally in the Valley to help raise money for Jimmy Jenkins, a former student and parent of a sixth and eighth grader, who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

There will be pulled pork sandwiches, cooked by Mike Patterson, baked beans and corn bread, sides and drinks for $7. The dinner starts at 4:30 p.m.

“It is definitely a Symmes Valley community event,” said Talitha Patterson, co-organizer of the event. “Everyone has donated towards the food and the pulled pork.”

Patterson said the Chesapeake football team has also shown its support by donating soda, as well as other local businesses.

There will also be two raffles — one for a pair of Ohio State vs. Michigan tickets and another for a pair of cornhole boards. The prizes will be given away at halftime.
