Person of interest sough in break-in
Two Ironton men were arrested this week after allegedly setting a car on fire for insurance money.
Keith Adkins, 38, and Gary Hay, 40, both of the 3100 block of South Fifth Street, were arrested Monday, according to Ironton Police Detective Joe Ross.
Ross said Adkins had filed a report on Sept. 25 that his 2007 Chrysler 300 had been stolen. The following day a car fire was reported near Front Street beyond the floodwall.
“He had hired Gary Hay to take his vehicle and burn it for insurance money,” Ross said.
Both men were charged with third-degree arson and forth-degree insurance fraud.
They are expected to be arraigned today in Ironton Municipal Court.
In an unrelated case, the IPD is looking for a person of interest in a burglary case.
A home in the 600 block of Center Street was broken into on Sept. 30.
“Someone stole numerous amounts of items from a lady’s house,” Ross said, which included jewelry.
The person of interest is Brad Jenkins, 25, of the 2200 block of South Sixth Street.
Anyone who knows Jenkins’ whereabouts is asked to contact Ross at 740-442-1876 or 740-237-6101. All tips will remain anonymous, he said.
The IPD also recently investigated an alleged theft case involving a home health worker.
Ross said Angel Fyffe, 30, of State Route 93, an employee of A and L Home Care, was arrested and charged with theft from the elderly. She was cited to court and given an own-recognizance bond. A pretrial is set for Sept. 19.
