Female Flyers roll past Rebels for first victory

Ashley Bartram and Ashlee Blankenship were the center of attention.

The two St. Joseph centers combined for 15 points and 12 rebounds as the Female Flyers beat the South Gallia Lady Rebels 48-23 on Monday.

“Our two post players did a good job scoring and rebounding,” said Female Flyers’ coach Nick Miller.

“We played pretty good defense and we shot the ball better. We were a little more patient.”

Lynsey Booker led St. Joseph (1-1) with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Bartram had 8 points and 6 rebounds while Blankenship had 7 points and 6 rebounds.

Megan Riley also had 6 rebounds as St. Joseph grabbed 41 as a team.

Erin Evans had 11 points for South Gallia (0-2).

Natalie Heaberlin and Bartram scored 4 points each as St. Joseph took a 13-3 first quarter lead.

Booker had 7 points in the second quarter to help stretch the lead to 27-9.

Booker, Blankenship and Bartram combined for 14 pints in the third quarter as the Female Flyers opened up a 43-12 cushion and coasted to the win.

St. Joseph plays at Rock Hill next Monday.
