Hoban beats TCC for D3 state title

COLUMBUS (AP) — Danny Clark threw for two touchdowns and Todd Sibley ran for two as Akron Archbishop Hoban won its first title with a 33-20 victory over defending champion Toledo Central Catholic in the Division III final on Thursday at Ohio Stadium.

Clark had 125 passing yards and Sibley 162 yards on 33 rushes for the Knights (14-1). Both are Ohio State commits.

Michael Warren had 31 carries for 161 yards and two touchdowns for Central Catholic (12-3) and Torrin Campbell passed for 234 yards.

Hoban led 28-14 at the half. Clark threw TD passes of 53 yards to Jonah Morris and 3 to Anthony Christian. Sibley’s scoring runs were 55 and 22 yards.

Warren’s third scoring run with 6:37 left in the third period brought Central Catholic to within 28-20, but Hoban got a safety and a late 33-yard field goal by Grant Kersh.
