GALLIPOLIS — There are games when a team doesn’t shoot well, and then there are games like the one the Coal Grove Lady Hornets had on Monday.

The Lady Hornets shot a dismal 12-of-56 from the field for 21 percent and made only one of 19 3-point attempts in a 45-33 Ohio Valley Conference loss to the Gallipolis Blue Angels.

Emily Compliment led Coal Grove with 16 points. Kasey Murphy grabbed 10 rebounds and Bailey McKnight pulled down 8.

Murphy also had 5 steals and Kaylee Beals 4 thefts while Compliment blocked 4 shots for the Lady Hornets (1-4, 1-3).

Hunter Copley scored 10 points to lead a balanced Gallipolis (1-4, 1-3).

The Blue Angels led 9-5 after the first quarter, 22-13 at the half and 37-23 after three quarters.

On Thursday, Coal Grove visits Rock Hill and Gallipolis goes to South Point in league games.
