COAL GROVE — Pick your poison.

The Dragons had four players in double figures and 10 different players scored in a 71-41 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Coal Grove Hornets on Friday.

Luke Thomas scored 13 points and Isaiah Howell 11 to lead the Dragons. Hutner Ashton and Gunner Short scored 10 points each.

Fairland (3-1, 2-0) made six 3-poitners with Howell making three, Thomas two and Brandon Porter one.

Coal Grove (1-4, 1-3) was led by Daniel Rutherford with 14 points.

The game was tied 11-11 at the end of the first quarter thanks to 6 points by Rutherford.

But Fairland outscored the Hornets 20-12 in the second quarter to lead 31-23 at the half.

Keedrick Cunningham and Short scored 6 points each and Ashton added 4 as Fairland began to pull away.

The Dragons continued to distance themselves from the Hornets in the third quarter as Thomas and Cunningham each made a 3-pointer and scored 5 points and the lead was 48-33.

Howell hit a pair of triples, Porter and Thomas a 3-pointer each and Thomas also scored 6 points in the quarter as Fairland outscored Coal Grove 23-8 to blow the game wide open.

On Tuesday, Fairland hosts Rock Hill in an OVC game while Coal Grove plays in the Ironton Classic.
