Lynda Hacker

April 18, 1944 — Dec. 17, 2015

Lynda F. Hacker, 71, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Huntington, West Virginia, native was born April 18, 1944, a daughter of the late Hobart and Mary Callicoat Watson.

Lynda attended Ironton City Schools, was a housewife and was of the Baptist faith. She was also a former volunteer at the Lawrence County General Hospital and known as the “Cake Lady”

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Joey Hacker; and step-father, W.B. “Sid” Diley.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joseph W. Hacker, whom she married Aug. 1, 1960; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindi (Eric) Hacker-Jones, of Louisville, Kentucky; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin (Kelli) Hacker, of Ironton; grandchildren, Zachary, Emily and Hunter Jones, Trevor and Trent Hacker and Jamie (Dave) Hacker Saunders; great-grandchildren, Baylee and Jake Saunders; a brother, Jerry (Jane) Watson, of Ironton; a sister, Sharon (Ron) Welz, of Ironton; Julie Insco and Trena Combs, who were loved like daughters; Marilou Clare and Wanda Wilson, who were loved like sisters; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Eric Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jason Blake, Zachary Jones, Jeff Compton, Blake Compton, Scott Watson, Shawn Watson, Aaron Watson and Mark Wilson. Grace Sanders

Jan. 15, 1917 — Dec. 15, 2015

Grace J. Sanders, 98, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born Jan. 15, 1917, a daughter of the late John W. and Amanda Baker Kiser.

Mrs. Sanders was a graduate of Pedro High School, a former employee for Mays Donut Shop and the Lawrence County General Hospital. She attended Central Christian Church in Ironton. She loved to watch the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes, was an avid reader and also loved music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Addis; her second husband, Frank Sanders; a son, Nicholas Addis; and her brothers and sisters, Adam Kiser, Gene Kiser, Frank Kiser, Omar Kiser, John Kiser, Karl Kiser and Roma Huffman.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Robert) Addis Booth, of Port Orange, Florida; three sons, Frankie Sanders, of St. Clairsville, Arthur (Lois) Sanders, of Columbus and Robert Sanders, of Ironton; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at a later date at the convenience of the family. Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Coletta Van Atta

Coletta Judy Van Atta, 84, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Glenn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Fatima with the Rev. Paul Yuenger officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, West Virginia. Ronald Roberts

Ronald Lee Roberts, 76, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at VAMC, Huntington, West Virginia.

Ron attended Kitts Hill Schools and served in U.S. Marines from 1958-1962. Ron retired from Dayton Mallable and Ironton Iron with 34 years of service. He was a member of South Point Masonic Lodge #497 F&AM, 32° Scottish Rite Mason Valley of Cincinnati. He was also a member of American Legion Post #76, Ashland, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ocie and Sylvia Smith Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Norma Moore Roberts; three sons, Butch (Kim) Roberts, Doug Roberts and Kevin (Susan) Roberts; Jim Renfroe in Missouri, whom he raised; six grandchildren, Kelli Cox, Brad Roberts, Brooke Jenkins, Megan Roberts, Cody Roberts and Rebecca A. Renfroe, of Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Tristen, Shaylan, Tyson, AnaLeigh and McKinley; two sisters, Jean Dickess and Judy Dennin; and several nieces and nephews.

Kathy Starcher

Kathy Whiteman Starcher, 69, of Proctorville, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, followed by a service at 8 p.m. with pastor Mike Smith officiating. Sheran “Shawn” Kendall McCarty died Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, in Flatwoods, Kentucky, at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Sharon. Omer “Hank” Charles Thompson, 91, of Russell, Kentucky, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Kay Johnson-Thompson.
