David Reid Dillon

Nov. 27, 1948—Dec. 21, 2015

David Reid Dillon, 67, of South Point, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. David was born Nov. 27, 1948. in Huntington, a son of the late Benny Lee Dillon and the late Beverly Ann Lynd.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Merlin Lynd; and brother, Larry Lynd. He attended South Point High School, where he was the salutatorian of the Class of 1966.

He received his undergraduate degree from Marshall University, where he was editor-in-chief of the 1969 Chief Justice, the yearbook. He was named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and University. He was an honor graduate at the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State, where he was managing editor of the law journal and Chief Justice of the Honor Council. He was admitted to the bar in 1980. He has been in private practice since that time and served two terms on the Supreme Court’s Board of Character and Fitness.

David is survived by his sisters, Dixie Staley of Reynoldsburg, Ann Crabtree, Carol Sullivan, Shirley Lipscomb and Emma Stewart, all of South Point; a brother, Andy Lynd of South Point; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
