CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Residents in Lawrence County may have enjoyed warm weather over the Christmas holiday, but freezing temperatures are set to return by the end of the week.

Meteorologist Kevin McGrath, with the National Weather Service in Charleston, West Virginia, said a cold front will move into the region today, ushering in cooler air.

While high reached the 60s and 70s over the weekend, temperatures should gradually drop each day this week, with highs only reaching the mid 30s by Thursday and Friday.

“Winter is finally getting here,” McGrath said. “It will be something more like we’d expect for this time of year.”

McGrath said generally dry conditions will come with the cold temperatures and snowfall is not expected for Ohio.
