Cheerleaders to perform at Citrus bowl

Four cheerleaders from Rock Hill Middle School are enjoying this week in Florida as part of the festivities for the Citrus Bowl.

Coach Julie Adams said seven cheerleaders from the school tried out for All-American cheerleading and made the cut.

“The president of Americheer invited the whole team to Florida,” Adams said. “She said she’d never seen a middle school as good as they were.”

Adams said four of the 15 students on the team, Keilie Adams, Charity Delong, Riliegh Morris and Raiden Jenkins, of the eighth grade, were able to raise the funds for the trip for six days in Florida.

Adams said the girls enjoyed a day at Disney World on Monday, followed by a trip to Universal Studiso theme park on Tuesday. Then, they’re slated to practice their routines and be treated to a New Year’s Eve pool party.

On Friday, they will perform as part of a group of 950 cheerleaders during halftime of the Michigan vs. Florida game at the Citrus Bowl.

Following the game, the girls are invited to an after party, where they will be served dinner and get to watch a video of the performance.
