Schmidt Family Restaurant Group acquires 25 Wendy’s restaurants

On Dec. 28, 2015, Justin and Scott Schmidt, of the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group, completed the acquisition of 25 company-owned Wendy’s restaurants in the Charleston/Huntington, West Virginia market. The franchise previously owned and operated 14 restaurants across Ohio and West Virginia. With this acquisition, the franchise will operate 22 Wendy’s restaurant locations in West Virginia, 13 in Ohio in Proctorville and South Point and four in Kentucky.

During the more than 40 years with Wendy’s, Schmidt Family Restaurant Group has been recognized with multiple system awards for franchise operations. In 2006, they were recognized with a “Wendy’s Founder’s Award” for excellent operations, people development, local marketing and reinvestment, and in 1996 with a “Wendy Award” for outstanding operations. In addition, in 2013, Scott Schmidt was recognized with a “Wendy’s Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award” for extraordinary efforts and significant contributions to the Wendy’s brand.
In addition to the Wendy’s franchise, Schmidt Family Restaurant Group owns and operates four Buffalo Wild Wings locations in Ohio and Kentucky, with a fifth to open in Pikeville, Kentucky in 2016. The company also has LaRosa’s Family Pizzeria in Jackson, Ohio. The franchise’s corporate office is located in Portsmouth.
