SOUTH POINT — The South Point Pointers must have had an eye test.

Tayshaun Fox was seeing the basket really well and Elijah Adams could see what was happening, so between them they helped the Pointers beat the Gallipolis Blue Devils 64-56 on Saturday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Fox scored 32 points including 17 in the fourth quarter. Adams had seven assists for the game and six were to Fox.

“Elijah saw Tayshaun was hot and he took his role of feeding him the ball. He didn’t try to force anything and showed great leadership in that situation,” said Pointers’ coach Travis Wise.

Jared Whitt added 15 points for the Pointers (4-6, 3-2).

Gallipolis (3-5, 3-3) had four players in double figures. Miles Cornwell scored 12 points on four 3-pointers while Wes Jarrell, Kole Carter and Devin Henry scored 10 points each.

Gallipolis led 17-16 after the first quarter but the Pointers rallied to take a 33-29 lead at the half.

The Blue Devils cut the lead to 42-39 after three quarters and then Fox erupted for his big fourth quarter.

“We missed a lot of easy shots, but we played well other than that and it was a good win,” said Wise.

South Point plays at Ironton on Tuesday.
