Boggs named commission president
Hayes to be vice president
For the second consecutive year Les Boggs will lead the Lawrence County Commission in 2016.
That decision was made at the commission’s organizational meeting Monday morning that preceded the regular meeting, normally scheduled for Thursday. This week it was on Monday.
Commissioner Bill Pratt nominated commissioner Freddie Hayes Jr. for president. But Hayes declined. He then nominated Boggs, who won in a 2 to 1 vote with Pratt voting “No.”
Hayes did accept the post of vice president.
The commission will continue to meet on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m., except for this week. Work sessions will be at 9:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month.
