WEST PORTSMOUTH — The St. Joseph Flyers’ biggest enemy Wednesday night was the St. Joseph Flyers.

The Flyers turned in a sub-par performance as they lost 58-41 to the Portsmouth West Senators.

St. Joseph head coach Kevin Sheridan didn’t mince words about his team’s performance.

“We didn’t play well at all,” said Sheridan. “We didn’t defend, we didn’t handle the ball or shoot it well, and we had no intensity or enthusiasm.”

St. Joseph (2-10) was led by Tyler Ward with 10 points. Tre Neal, Chase Walters and Isaac Whaley all scored 8 points each.

The Senators were led by Jordan Frasure with 15 points and Drew Howard with 13.

Buster Boggs scored 6 of his 8 points in the first quarter as West took a 16-6 lead.

Chase Walters then scored 6 of his 8 points in the second quarter and Tre Neal nailed a trifecta as the Flyers kept pace to trail 30-20 at the half.

The third quarter proved again to be crucial to the Flyers as they were outscored 19-7 and fell behind 49-27. Howard hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 9 points to key the West scoring outburst.

St. Joseph put together a mild comeback in the fourth quarter by outscoring West 14-9 as Neal scored 5 points including another trifecta and Isaac Whaley added 4 points.

The Flyers visit Sciotoville East on Saturday.
