Just like the weather lately, the St. Joseph Female Flyers’ shooting has been hot and ice cold.

On Saturday, the Female Flyers made only 7-of-45 from the field for 16 percent in a 38-20 loss at Trimble.

St. Joseph did a reverse of that on Monday as they shot 47 percent in a 65-19 rout of the Ohio Valley Christian Lady Defenders.

“Offensively at Trimble we just couldn’t make shots. It wasn’t that we made bad passes or anything, we were just bad offensively. And give Trimble credit, they will get out and defend you,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.

“(Monday) it was nice to get a win and it’s nice to have a game when you can get playing time for everyone.”

St. Joseph was 29-of 62 from the field against OVC with three players in double figures.

Morgan Turner has 12 points, five assists and six steals for the Female Flyers (7-10). Lynsey Booker had a game-high 15 points and eight rebounds while Megan Riley scored 10 points and had four rebounds.

Ashley Bartram and Booker scored four points each as St. Joseph took a 15-6 first quarter lead.

Booker and Turner combined for 11 points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 34-11 at the break.

Booker had five more points in the third quarter and the defense held OVC scoreless as the lead went to 49-11.

Natalie Heaberlin scored five points and Sarah Snowden four more in the fourth quarter for the Female Flyers.

On Saturday, St. Joseph was down 6-5 at the end of the first quarter and 17-7 at the half despite the cold shooting.

“As poorly as we played in the first half, we were still in the game. We played well enough defensively to win the game,” said Miller.

The Female Flyers were down just 26-14 after three quarters.

Turner led St. Joseph with 11 points and Booker had eight against Trimble.

On Wednesday, St. Joseph visits Portsmouth West.
