PEDRO — This one was the work of the backups.

With the starters scoring only a combined 25 points, the Fairland Dragons bench did the bulk of the work with a 65-11 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redmen on Tuesday.

Gunner Short led the starters with 12 points while Ty Staten had eight points, five assists and two steals.

Keederick Cunningham also got 12 points coming off the bench for Fairland (11-2, 8-0).

Rock Hill (0-13, 0-7) had one of those nightmare shooting nights. The Redmen made just 4-of-37 field goal attempts for 11 percent.

Staten had six points in the first quarter as Fairland took a 22-3 lead. The Dragons led 37-7 at the half.

Brandon Porter score six points and Staten five in the third quarter as the lead grew to 54-10.

Rock Hill hosts Portsmouth on Wednesday in a league makeup game. Fairland hosts Ironton on Friday.
