PEDRO — So much for the weather.

The recent heavy snowfall kept the Chesapeake Panthers out of the gym from Friday until Monday.

The layoff didn’t seem to bother the Panthers who beat the Rock Hill Redmen 66-18 on Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Panthers’ coach Ryan Davis said the layoff made have been the reason for a slow start offensively, but his team seemed to shake off the rust as the game progressed.

“It wasn’t great early, but we played OK. Our focus wasn’t bad,” said Davis.

“We needed to work on things and try to get better. We’re still trying to reach our goals by the end of the year.”

The Panthers (13-3, 7-2) had three players in double figures as Gage Rhoades scored 19 points. Jake Stevens 16 and Brad Meadows had 14.

Chesapeake took a 12-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and then Rhoades scored 11 points in the second quarter as the Panthers extended their lead to 34-4 at the half.

The Panthers outscored Rock Hill 19-8 in the third quarter and the lead was 53-12.

Chesapeake hosts South Point on Wednesday in a league game. Rock Hill visits Ironton on Friday in an OVC game.
