GALLIPOLIS — Each year it seems the Fairland Lady Dragons encounter a bump in the road.
That speed bump happened on Monday as the Lady Dragons were upset by the Gallipolis Blue Angels 56-51 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Fairland (14-3, 9-3) led at halftime but managed just 21 points in the second half.
Taylor Perry scored 16 points and Emily Chapman 13 to lead Fairland.
Jordan Walker scored 16 points while Carly Shriver and Adrienne Jenkins had 11 points each and Jalea Caldwell 10 points for Gallipolis (3-16, 3-10).
The game was tied 11-11 at the end of the first quarter, but Chapman scored six points while Perry and Tori Hall each hit 3-pointers to put the Lady Dragons up 30-21 at the half.
But Fairland went cold in the third quarter with just six points and fell behind 39-36. Shriver made a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in the quarter.
Perry had five points and she and Chapman each made 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, but Caldwell had seven points and was 5-of-6 from the foul line for the Blue Angels who were 7-of-10 from the line as a team.
On Thursday, Fairland visits Chesapeake and Gallipolis goes to Portsmouth in OVC games.
