GALLIPOLIS — The South Point Pointers are planning to schedule some kick start sessions.

The Pointers began the game with only three first quarter points and lost 58-50 to the Gallipolis Blue Devils on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

The early 13-point deficit proved to be too much figure for the Pointers to overcome.

Wes Jarrell scored a game-high 25 points and Kole Carter added 13 points to lead Gallipolis (7-12, 5-7).

South Point (6-12, 5-6) was led by Elijah Adams with 12 points followed by Jared Whitt with 11 points and Tayshaun Fox had 10.

The Pointers got off on the wrong foot offensively with just three points in the first quarter and trailed 16-3. Jarrell scored 10 points and Carter six for the Blue Devils.

Elijah Adams had five points including a 3-pointer in the second quarter but Jarrell scored eight more points as the lead went to 31-17 at the half.

Adams hit a pair of triples and Douglass Shaffer came off the bench to add a trey in the third quarter as the Pointers got within 43-31. Devon Henry and Jarrell scored four points each.

The Pointers staged a comeback in the fourth quarter as Fox got 7 points including 5-of-7 at the line and Whitt had a 3-pointer as he scored five points in the quarter, but Gallipolis converted 11-of-17 free throws to seal the win.

On Tuesday, South Point hosts Ironton and Gallipolis entertains Fairland in OVC games.
