PEDRO — A Rock Hill teacher had a close call Tuesday morning when her car went off the road and into a creek on Prickly Ash Road.

Kay Wheeler, a kindergarten teacher at Rock Hill Elementary, was driving and hit an icy spot on the road, Trooper Chad Cantor, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The car crossed over the left side of the highway and went into the creek, which was deep from recent snow and rain and swift moving.

Wheeler noticed that the driver’s side window was broken out and was able to float downstream until she grabbed a branch and was able to pull herself from the water.
