Tickets for the Chesapeake boys’ Division III district tournament game are on sale for $6 at the high school.

The game is 7:15 p.m. on Sunday at Ohio University’s Convocation Center against Eastern Brown. It will be the final of four games. One ticket is good for all four games.

Chesapeake only receives a small percentage of the presale. Fans are urged to purchase tickets in advance.

Tickets for the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ Division III district tournament championship game are on sale for $6 at the high school.

The game is 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Waverly Downtown Arena against North Adams. It will be the final of three games. One ticket is good for all three games.

Ironton only receives a small percentage of the presale. Fans are urged to purchase tickets in advance.

 

 

 

CGLL registration

to be held Saturday

The Coal Grove Little League will hold its baseball and softball registrations from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday at Coal Grove High School.

Registration is open to youths ages 4-18. Fee is $35 for the first child and $25 for each addition sibling.

Final date to apply to coach a team is Saturday.

Officials to host youth

benefit tournaments

The Ironton Basketball Chapter will conduct a grade school all-star basketball tournament March 4-6 at the Rock Hill schools complex with proceeds funding two academic scholarships.

The tournament is for boys and girls teams in grades 4-6. Entry fee is $100 per team. Varsity referees will be used to officiate all games.

The scholarships will be awarded to a male and female high school student from any Ohio Valley Conference school including Portsmouth and Gallipolis as well as St. Joseph and Symmes Valley schools in Lawrence County. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the recommendation a group of retired teachers.

Ironton Little League

sets registration dates

The Ironton Little League will have registration for boys’ and girls’ leagues aged 4-and-up for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Wendy’s, Fourth and Center streets.

Registrants will be required to provide proof of age (birth certificate) and three proof of residency if the child does not attend a school within league boundaries.

Other dates of interest: March 5 tryouts for minor league and above); March 7 make-up tryouts; March 8 draft (minor league and above); March 12 practices begin; April 9 Opening Day.

 

 

RHLL schedules

The Rock Hill National Little League will conduct registrations from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Rock Hill Middle School.

Fee is $20 per child with a cap of $60 per family. Also, there is a $20 per-child opt-out fee for fundraisers.

RHNLL is a volunteer ran organization but there is a $20 opt out for volunterring.

Anyone wanting to apply for a coach needs to apply no later than Saturday, Feb. 27. No youth will be left out for any reason.

 

 

Lady Vikes’ softball set

annual rummage sale

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings’ softball team annual rummage sale will be from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, in the high school gym.

Anyone wishing to donate any items for the rummage sale may drop them off at the school from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, March 4.

If persons have items needing to be picked up, call coach Jeff “Odie” Estep at (740) 643-2371 (school) or 643-2021 (home).

 

 

Youth AAU basketball

An AAU basketball tournament will be Friday through Sunday, March 11-13, at South Point High School for boys and girls in grades 3-11.
