Beulah Sparks

Beulah “Katie” (Harless-Clagg) Sparks died Monday, March 14, 2016, under the watchful care of hospice at age 82, after a long battle with myelofibrosis, a rare and fatal bone marrow cancer. Katie was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend, John E. Sparks. She is survived by her son, Steve (Lynn) Clagg, of Proctorville; and daughter, Marsha (Greg) Sanders, of Milton, West Virginia. Katie was a wonderful homemaker. Many are left with fond memories of holidays past or dinners where delicious meals and sincere hospitality were experienced.  She was the daughter of the late George W. and Mary Dempsey Harless, third oldest of 10 children. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, West Virginia, by pastor Jeff Black. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Mom will be genuinely missed.

 

 

Abby French

April 24, 2004—March 14, 2016

Abby Dawn French, 11, of South Point, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with pastor Trent Carpenter officiating.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Abby was born April 24, 2004 in Ashland, a daughter of William Derrick French and April Pritchard Pemberton, father, Shane Pemberton and stepmother, Kim Brickles. She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Frank Pritchard; great grandma, Linda Bazell; great grandpa, Dave Murdock; and great grandparents, Charles and Amzel Miller. She attended C3 Church and Open Door School, Ironton. In addition to her parents, she is survived by five sisters, Darian French, Jalyn Brickles, Maddie Goldie, Tyera Pemberton and Allana Pemberton; two brothers, Casey Pemberton and Dylan French; grandparents, Cherie Pritchard, Mike and Linda Pemberton and Walt and Letitia French; great grandparents, Donald Bazell, Kaye Pritchard, Kay Murdock and Ruth Pemberton; a niece, Aiden Pemberton; aunts and uncle, Katie French, Shayne Pritchard and Lisa and Don Hanshaw; and cousins, Karson Frecka, Channing Frecka, Mikayla Daniels, Devyn Pritchard, Olivia Hanshaw and Graham Hanshaw.

Nannie Comstock

Nannie Eloise Comstock, 97, of South Point, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville by Pastor Harry Adkins.

Burial will follow in Myrtle Ridge Cemetery, Kitts Hill. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Charles Heald, 55, of Huntington, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

 

 

Marcella Carmon

April 10, 1924—March 14, 2016

Marcella Marie Carmon, 91, of Ironton, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016, at the Concord Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg. The Lawrence County native was born April 10, 1924, a daughter of the late Roy and Edna Fayne Bailey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Carmon, whom she married April 20, 1946.

Mrs. Carmon was a graduate of Pedro High School and a homemaker. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Ironton, where her husband once served as Deacon.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant brother, Roy Bailey, Jr.; and one son-in-law, Richard Gothard.

She is survived by a son, David (Dora) Carmon, of Wheelersburg; two daughters, Janice Gothard, of Worthington, Kentucky, and Glenna (Steve) Besco, of Pedro; six grandchildren, Eric (Mildred) Besco, of Orange Park, Florida, Ryan (Jennifer) Besco, of Pedro, Melanie (Steven) Blake, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Meredith (Ryan) Hulse, of Upper Arlington, Michelle (Brandt) Metts, of Westerville and Sally Taylor of Bryan; 13 great grandchildren; and one brother, Glenn (Martha) Carmon, of Ironton.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Highland Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Glenn Carmon officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 1-2 p.m. at Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
