KNOXVILLE, TN — Jill Hairston and Jenna Lane must have made some kind of a deal.

Hairston took care of the pitching and Lane took care of the hitting as the Rock Hill Redwomen rolled to a pair of mercy rule shutout wins during a trip to Tennessee on Monday and Tuesday.

Hairston pitched a no-hitter and a one-hitter while Lane went 6-for-7 with a pair of runs batted in.

“Jenna had a huge game both days and Jill had great command. She uses a lot of pitches and she locates the ball so well,” said Rock Hill coach Sam Gue.

“Makenzi (Harrah) and Blaike (Roberts) and Madison (Harper) did well in fill-in roles. When we needed someone to step up they did a nice job.”

Hairston fired a no-hitter in a 13-0 win over Jellico. She struck out five and did not walk a batter.

“She’s obviously throwing pretty well right now,” said Gue.

Rock Hill jumped out to a 5-0 first inning lead highlighted by Harper’s two-run double.

Roberts had a two-run singled in the six-run fourth inning.

Lane was 3-4 and Harrah 2-3 with an RBI as Rock Hill had 10 hits.

“Jenna has been unreal at the plate right now. Makenzi has started to come into her own. She hit the ball hard both days,” said Gue.

On Tuesday, Hairston stuck out only one batter but did not walk a batter as she pitched a one-hitter.

The Redwomen got 12 hits as Lane went 3-3, Harrah 2-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Roberts 2-3 with an rbi.

Rock Hill plays at Coal Grove on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
