Hopefully, better days are ahead.

After a bad day on Friday against Gallipolis, the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers played better in a doubleheader split with the Lucasville Valley Lady Indians on Saturday.

“The girls showed up with a better attitude today. We played well today with no errors in the first game but Valley just hit the gaps,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields.

“(Valley) has a good hitting team. Our bats came alive in the second game. My three, four and five hitters did well today.”

In a 5-4 first game loss, Shay Cox drove in two runs while Cox and Aley Carmon had two hits each.

In the second game, Ironton won 7-5 as Carmon and Ruthie Paholsky had two hits each and Katie Burcham drove in a pair runs.

“Kenzie Cremeens had a nice triple and Ruthie Paholsky added a double. Aley Carmon has played sick the last three games and is still impressive at the plate,” said Fields.

On Friday, the Lady Tigers lost an Ohio Valley Conference game to Gallipolis 11-0in five innings.

The Lady Tigers had just one hit against the Blue Angels.

“We couldn’t get the bat on the ball tonight and when we did it was right at them. Just didn’t show up to play ball,” said Fields.

Ironton hosts Fairland on Monday.
