Lady Panthers outscore Lady Tigers

If you like offense, you loved this one.

The Chesapeake Lady Panthers rallied with three runs in the each the sixth and seventh innings to edge the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 11-10 on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

The game featured not only 21 runs but 30 hits between the team.

Chesapeake (4-4, 2-2) had 17 hits as Brooke Webb went 3-5 with a double, a home run and five runs batted in. Melanie Noble was 3-5 with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs, Ryleigh Swann ws 4-5 with an RBI, Jordan Storms 3-4 with a double and RBI and Brianna Russell 2-4 with a double.

Ironton had 13 hits as Haleigh Rowe went 3-4 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs. Ruthie Paholsky was 2-3 with a double and three RBI, Aley Carmon 2-4 with a double, Haylee Stevens 2-4 with a double and RBI, and Kenzie Cremeens was 2-4.

Paholsky had a two-run double in the first but Chesapeake tied it in the second on a homer by Noble and an RBI double by Storms.

Ironton scored five runs in the bottom of the second highlighted by Rowe who clubbed a 3-run homer.

The Lady Panthers had five hits and scored three times in the third while Ironton got a run in its half of the inning on doubles by Rowe and Stevens.

Rowe had a 2-run double in the fourth and it was 10-5.

Webb hit a 3-run homer in the sixth to cut the spread to 10-8 and the Lady Panthers got three more in the seventh.

Storms and Robin Frye single but the next two batters made outs. Webb doubled home the tying runs and Noble doubled in Webb with the go-ahead run.

In OVC games on Monday, Ironton is at South Point and Chesapeake hosts Gallipolis.
